Soroptimist International of Raleigh, NC meets the second Tuesday of most months (September to May), at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Road (between Lassiter Mill Road and Millbrook Road). Most meetings are open to guests.

The 2008 - 2009 club year offered meetings on the themes of ending violence against women, human trafficking awareness, women's health issues, international project opportunities, and economic independence for women.

The May 2009 meeting featured Katy Hyde, associated with Duke, discussing challenges faced by women of other cultures.

At our February 2007 meeting our focus was on women's health and cervical cancer. Dr. Pouru Bhiwandi, professor of maternal child health at University of North Carolina and former medical director of Family Health International was our distinguished speaker.

In January 2007, our focus was on our professional clothing closet, and two of our Referring Partners discussed us how our clothing closet enhances their own programs. Speakers included Gina Lipscomb, of Jubilee Jobs, and Valerie Fairley of CasaWorks.

In November 2006, our focus was Human Rights. Our speaker was Behjat Dehghan, of the Association of International Women for Human Rights. Ms. Beth Dehghan, a long-time women's rights activist from Iran, is the founder and president of the Association of International Women for Human Rights and an active lobbyist in the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Commission. She provided a fascinating glimpse of what's going on with Human Rights around the world.

Our meetings typically include an interesting program, a time for getting to know each other, light refreshments, and a short business meeting. We invite you to attend a meeting to learn more about our organization and its mission and to see how you can contribute your unique skills and experiences.
